How CityFit computes this score
CityFit evaluates eligible medium and large airports from OurAirports using straight-line distance from the city center. A distance score is adjusted using available direct-destination counts from OpenFlights and cached annual passenger totals. The city receives the highest resulting airport score, which need not belong to the nearest airport.
Distance and airport size
Distance scores are linearly interpolated between the following anchors. Airports outside the final distance anchor contribute zero.
| Distance | Large airport | Medium airport |
|---|---|---|
| 0 km | 100 | 75 |
| 15 km | 96 | 72 |
| 30 km | 90 | 66 |
| 60 km | 78 | 50 |
| 100 km | 62 | 28 |
| 160 km | 38 | 0 |
| 260 km | 0 | 0 |
Connectivity and passenger volume
Direct destinations are log-scaled to a full-score target of 220. Annual passengers use a target of 110 million. Both component scores are capped at 100. Airport importance combines 65% destination score and 35% passenger score, normalizing available weights if one is missing.
View the scoring formula
airport_score = distance_score × (0.55 + 0.45 × importance_score / 100)
city_airport_score = highest eligible airport_scoreIf neither importance measure is available, CityFit uses the distance score alone. The final city score is rounded to one decimal place.
How CityFit uses it
10% base weight in Lifestyle Fit. Your priority slider multiplies this weight, and CityFit takes the weighted average of the active lifestyle scores.
Changing priorities adjusts the blend; it does not recalculate the underlying airport access score. The overall Practical Fit and Lifestyle Fit sliders determine how those two layers contribute to CityFit Score.
Country and region filters select which cities you see. Metric colors continue to use the global scale; percentiles describe a city’s standing across the full dataset and are separate from the raw score.
What the score can tell you
These are cached airport and route records, not current flight schedules. Distance is geographic rather than road or transit travel time; fares, delays and airport experience are excluded.
